Lakes & Tips

This page provides information about each of the three fishing lakes housed at Wrightington Fisheries. With useful hints and tips provided by the owner Paul Dodd.

The Horse Shoe

The name of this lake was based on its curvature which gives it a horse shoe like shape. It has 19 pegs with disabled access on two of them. This is mainly used for pleasure fishing and only rarely available to book for match fishing.

Pauls Tip

"This lake does not contain Barbel. It has a good head of Carp (up to 18lb) and is well stocked with Roach, Rudd, Perch, Tench and Bream"

Rivington View

With a great view of winter hill this lake is our signature match day fishing lake. It contains 30 pegs and can be booked by contacting Paul via the contact page. The lake is also used for pleasure fishing when not booked so check the calendar for availability.

Pauls Tip

"Most popular match lake good head of Carp, Barbell and Bream"

The Canals

Two 220m long 16m wide canal lengths. 20 pegs on each lake with wheel chair access to every peg. These lakes are used for both matches and pleasure fishing. Great for even matches.
